Apple Festival 2017 Update
By Dr. Robert C. Springate, Regional Representative
This year’s Apple Festival was a great success leaving wonderful memories for those who attended and participated in the activities. We had a great 5K Race, great food, great fun, great entertainment, a great auction and great results bringing in more than $31,000 to help us accomplish our mission to “Serve God by helping children, youth and families to make a lasting difference in their lives.”
The children will remember the joy and experience of the face painting and the balloon artist clown in their area. They also enjoyed the games and opportunity to make crafts.
Everyone is sure to remember the wonderful food available that day that included breakfast items when the festival began and lunch items later in the day. The entertainment that went on throughout the entire time of the festival was both inspiring and uplifting. The 12 outside vendors had unique and wonderful handmade items that sold well throughout the day. The donated crafts sold well at auction as did the 75 beautiful quilts that brought in almost $20,000.
The new feature this year was our 5K4Kids Race that started at 8am before the Festival. We had 44 runners who will remember that they were the first group to ever participate in this race to positively impact the lives of children, youth and families. Next year we hope to double the number of runners.
If you did not have the opportunity to participate in this year’s Race and/or Festival, the good news is that we will do it all again next year. The date for next year is Sept 8, 2018 (it is always the second Saturday of September). The 5K Race will begin at 8am and the Apple Festival will run from 9am to 3pm. The Apple Festival is held each year at First Baptist Church of Raymore at 116 S Washington in Raymore, MO and the 5K Race begins at the pavilion in the park just behind the church.
These events would not be possible without the participation of the wonderful volunteers and race sponsors who help make these events possible. We are most thankful to those who helped this year. And if you would like to help next year as a volunteer in one of our Festival areas, call or email Joann Britt at 816-898-1094 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
