Missouri Baptist Children’s Home is in the process of becoming a trauma-informed agency; this is a whole culture approach that includes all staff. Evidence shows that a history of trauma or adverse childhood experiences can seriously impair the future of successful relationships and capabilities. Trauma actually causes changes in the brain and can cause dysregulation with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms.
Believing that trauma which occurred in relationships should find healing in relationships and believing that as children of God, we find forgiveness, healing, hope, and restoration in our relationship with God through Christ, we seek to provide trauma-informed interventions that address the whole person.
The Agency utilizes the attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention called TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) to inform its services to clients. TBRI uses three principles to work with clients who have experienced trauma:
