Kelly never knew her biological father. She had a strained relationship with her mother and step-dad that included physical violence. Kelly eventually was placed in foster care due to her out of control behaviors and was recommended to be placed in a residential facility. While placed at a foster home and attending high school, Kelly became involved in ROTC. When she had to change foster homes, she was able to continue to attend the same high school so that she could also continue with ROTC. Kelly graduated from high school this year and recently started working. Kelly is moving into our Transitional Living Scattered Sites apartments this summer and plans to attend college in the Fall. Kelly has experienced a great deal of loss and rejection in her young life, but has learned how to talk through negative situations and develop healthy relationships. Kelly is making decisions today to work towards her long term goals. Kelly is a huge success, and we are extremely proud of her!
