Hearing the Call
“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.” Romans 12:6a
Whether it be prophecy, service, teaching, encouragement, giving, leadership, mercy or another God-given talent, we need to use them. God gives us opportunities to use the gifts He has given us and to grow within our relationship with Him by challenging ourselves to step out in faith. Here’s an example of that very thing:
When Cassie and John found out that a foster child in Cassie’s Children’s Church had to move to a new placement, they felt called to become the child’s foster parents. This allowed for the child to keep many of her current connections within the community and helped with her adjustment because she already knew Cassie. It is less traumatic for a foster child to be placed with a family or individual that they already know.
If you have a relationship with a child or their parents, you could be considered as a placement provider or support the family through the process of restoring their family. Missouri Baptist Children’s Home is looking for people who are willing to become foster parents and help work towards the goal of reuniting foster children to their biological families when that is possible. We provide foster parent training free of charge and provide the support you will need to care for foster children temporarily placed in your home. If you would like to learn more about becoming a foster parent please call 1-800-264-6224.
