Are you aware that May is National Foster Care Month? Ever wonder, just how many churches it would take to solve the foster care crisis in the United States?
According to the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO), if just 10% of churches in every county in each state was actively engaged in foster care ministry there would be more than enough. Just 10% of churches could provide more than enough families for foster kids, more than enough families for children waiting for adoptive families, more than enough support for foster and adoptive families, more than enough support for biological families at risk of having children removed, and more than enough support for biological families seeking to reunify and restore thier family.
Just Ten Percent! 10% would provide More Than Enough! Currently in the state of Missouri there is a shortage of foster and adoptive families all across the state. When a child or children are taken into state custody and they need a foster home, often they sit in an office for hours, some even spending the night in an office while social workers search frantically and exhaustively for an available family. Just 10% of churches could change this dramatically. Just 10% could make it so that when a child needs a foster placement, the social worker has several families to choose from and can actually make the best match, not just find the first available home.
Could you be the person of influence in your church that leads the way for the church to engage in this ministry? Would your church be part of the 10% that provides More Than Enough?
