Birthday Offering

I celebrated another birthday on December 22 and it was my pleasure to make a birthday offering to MBCH in recognition of that event.  By giving one dollar per year I am old (it "cost" me $73 this time) I was able to receive a birthday mug.

For many, many years it has been been the tradition and practice to present an MBCH birthday pencil to everyone who gives a penny per year on his or her birthday.  And we still do that.  However, back in the 1980's, Joe Steel, a long-time member of the former Edmundson Road Baptist Church, decided a penny did not go as far as it used to and the challenge should be made to give $1.  Implementing that idea resulted in a mug being presented.  Several pastors and teachers have started "Muggers' Clubs" where the mugs are presented and birthdays publicly recognized.

The birthday offering is a fun and easy way to make a gift to MBCH and to invest in the children, youth, and families we serve.  You become a vital partner with us in this ministry.  Information on the birthday offering and the materials that are available to you at no cost to promote it can be found on this website.

I challenge you to join me and celebrate your birthday by investing in the lives of those we are privileged to serve in His name.
