April 1, 2020, is the 134th birthday of Missouri Baptist Children's Home, as it was on Thursday, April 1, 1886, that the Baptist Orphans' Home was opened in a rented house in downtown St. Louis. Five infant orphans were placed the first day the Home was opened. In the first year of operation, 76 children were received into the Home, of whom 26 died and 25 were adopted.
My, how things have changed! In 2019, we served hundreds of children, youth, and families all across the state of Missouri. Children are served in group homes and foster homes and adults are served in various programs as well.
But what has not changed is our commitment to carry on the commitment of our founders to minister to those in need and to share with them the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
So join with us as we celebrate 134 years of ministry. May the Lord continue to bless and nurture the work of Missouri Baptist Children's Home as we provide hope, healing, and restoration and serve Him by responding to the needs of children, youth, and families to make a lasting difference in their lives.
Happy Birthday, MBCH! And many more!
