The LIGHT House
Church Chooses The LIGHT House for Mission Trip Project
The LIGHT House had the pleasure of being selected by Trinity Lutheran Church from Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, for a mission trip project for the summer. The church’s youth group, led by Kitty Sawyer, Youth and Families Director, complete an annual mission trip. Each year they select a different city, and contact several non-profit agencies about volunteer services.
The work crew, led by Tim Sawyer, arrived at the maternity home bright and early on July 10! With a work crew of two leaders and ten teenagers, they accomplished several projects on the property: construction of several sturdy wooden shelves in the basement, construction of a wardrobe closet and storage cubbies, and complete ceiling repair and painting of one of the resident bedrooms. The bedroom was a tremendous blessing, as this bedroom had been unfortunately closed for several months with water damage to the ceiling.
On Wednesday, the last day of construction, Kitty and several other teens stopped by the house with a generous amount of donations including: diapers, wipes, infant and toddler clothing, bottles and sippy cups, toys, infant bath soap, formula, and baby food. They also worked several more hours to clean up and organize the basement, which was an incredible blessing!
The LIGHT House is so very thankful to Kitty and Tim, and all of the youth group leaders and teens as they sacrificed their time, energy, skills, and passion. They had genuine servant hearts and were wonderful to work with!
