The Branches at Brookline to Become Part of MBCH
The Boards of Southwest Special Care Homes and MBCH Children and Family Ministries have approved and signed documents merging The Branches at Brookline into the ministries of MBCH. (As this issue of The Messenger goes to press, the documents have been sent to the Missouri Attorney General who has 10 days to approve the merger and and send the documents to the Secretary of State who will issue the legal certificate of merger.)
The Branches at Brookline is a Christian, family-style residence providing adults with developmental disabilities a secure and stable place to call home. The home is situated on 35 beautiful acres near Springfield, Missouri. Southwest Special Care Homes was founded in 2002 and completed the building of the house in 2012.
“From the very beginning, we have sought the advice of the staff of MBCH,” said Debbie Dent, Southwest Special Care Homes Board Chairman. “We have the passion for telling the story and meeting the needs of special needs adults, but we recognized early-on that we didn’t have the expertise to manage the ministry efficiently. There was always the thought that we might join the MBCH family at some point.”
“We are excited to welcome the Branches at Brookline into our family,” said Russell Martin, MBCH President. “The Board of Southwest Special Care Homes has done a wonderful job of developing and sustaining this ministry. We will do our best to be good stewards of their legacy.”
(More information about the Branches at Brookline and MBCH’s developmentally disabled adult ministry will be released when the merger becomes official.)
