Dr. Sandra L. “Sandy” Woodside joined
the staff of Missouri Baptist Children’s Home in 1997. Sandy lives
in Independence, MO and serves as the Development Officer for
Western Missouri. Her responsibilities include not only fund
raising but also the recruiting of families for the
foster-adoptive program.
In fund raising, Sandy makes both group
presentations and presentations to individuals sharing the
ministry challenges and opportunities of the Children’s Home and
showing both groups and individuals how they can be personally
involved in this vital ministry to children. Sandy is a certified
instructor who leads Estate Planning Seminars and meets with
individuals to help them find answers to their questions and
solutions to meet their estate planning objectives.
Sandy received her B.A. in Secondary Education from UMKC in 1984.
She received her MRE degree and her D.Min. degrees from Midwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary in 1986 and 1991 respectively. She then
received her MSW degree from the University of Kansas in 1999.
Sandy’s ministry experience includes several years of volunteer
work in the area of Christian Social Ministries before her appointment
by the Home Mission Board as a Missionary Associate in 1981. In 1991,
Sandy was appointed as a Career Home Missionary. Her entire 10 years
with the Home Mission Board were served as Director of Multihousing
(Apartment) Ministries for the Blue River/Kansas City Baptist
Association. From 1991-1997 she also filled that role for Clay-Platte
Baptist Association.
Sandy is married to
Frank Woodside and has 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Her older son,
Lon Cullen, is married and is a graduate of Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary. He is currently serving as pastor of First
Baptist Church, Vincent, AL. Sandy’s daughter, Summer, is a graduate
of the nursing program of Southwest Baptist University at Bolivar.
